Brief History of Burghley House.
The original house was built between 1555 and 1587 by William Cecil. At the time, he was the Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I. The house has stayed in the family for sixteen generations. It is currently under the guardianship of The Marquess of Exeter. Although the Marquess lives abroad, his cousin resides at Burghley House as the Charity House Director with her young family.
The formal gardens were designed by “Capability” Brown and are a popular attraction for visitors. The same applies to the extensive collection of works of art. This includes paintings, ceramics, furniture and tapestries.
What is Burghley House Preservation Trust?
Established as a charity in 1969, the Burghley House Preservation Trust preserves the main House , the land and all associated buildings. It raises money by charging admission to all visitors to the House and Gardens. It also runs regular events throughout the year. The idea is to maintain the House and its contents for generations to come. Repairs and restoration are carried out when necessary.

Burghley require heavy duty Gazebos for their regular events that are set up and taken down and stored easily. Flame retardant material is essential for some stalls. Therefore they are supplied with gazebos from our Commercial range in our most popular size, the 3m x 3m.
