Can You Use A Pop-Up Gazebo in Winter?

  • Post category:News

You may not have considered using a Pop-Up Gazebo in winter. There are many cheap, flimsy gazebos in the market place that would definitely not be suitable. Although we experience an array of adverse weather types all year in the UK,  the worst is in winter. However, winter use is a viable option if you purchase a gazebo from Gazebos Galore.

We recommend our Industrial range. Here’s why…

The Frames.

  • Made from 2mm gauge High Grade Aluminium – strong and robust.
  • The legs are 58mm in width at the widest point. They are hexagonal in shape for increased strength.
  • Stainless steel foot plates.
  • Cast alloy joints – these come with a lifetime warranty.
  • Roof system has RIBS – Robust Internal Brace System – for extra strength.
  • Quick-release reinforced spring pull pin system – allows for speed if you need to pack your gazebo away quickly in extreme weather conditions.
  • 5 position height adjustment – in windy conditions, it is better to choose the lowest height setting.

The Canopy and Walls.

  • Made from tough 550gsm Polyester – heavy duty material.
  • Fully flame retardant to British Standard BS 7837/1996.
  • Hot-air-taped seams and inner PVC coating for maximum strength and rain protection.
  • Fully waterproof.
  • UV stabilised to reduce colour fading.
  • Canopy securing bolts to keep canopy fixed.
  • Walls come as sets so the Gazebo can be fully enclosed – includes roll up/down door panel. Also has roll down blinds on the window panels. Panels are secured with velcro and zips. You choose how many panels to use at any one time.

If you are not sure which gazebo is right for you, take a look at our buying guide here.

All spare parts are available for our Pop-Up Gazebos, including replacement canopies and wall sets.

All our Gazebos come with a standard set of Guy Ropes and Pegs for securing the shelters on soft ground.

Winter weather may require further security measures:

These are not permanent structures and should be used with this in mind. Our advice is that you must carry out a risk assessment on whether the wind is strong enough to lift the gazebo against your anchors. Pegs and guys are only as good as the ground they go into, whereas our HD straps will withstand up to 600KGs per strap. If the item the strap is attached to is firmly set on the ground, then this will make a significant difference to the amount of wind it is safe to leave the structure up in.

If you are caught out in the wind and need to take urgent action, we recommend you first lower the structure to its lowest point and adjust the straps. Closing the sidewalls will also prevent the wind from getting under the canopy and lifting this.

Every site is different and so the responsibility of ensuring the gazebo is sufficiently anchored down, and used within its limitations, always lies with the people erecting the outdoor structure. It is the users responsibility to determine whether it is safe to continue to use the gazebo in windy conditions

Heavy Duty Tie Down Kits.
