The devastating effects of COVID-19 has rippled throughout the world and the impact has been felt acutely by many businesses; not least the hospitality industry who continue to try and function within current tiered regulations.
As the colder months approach, pubs, restaurants and cafe’s need to ensure the they can continue to serve their customers and some are looking at the use of outside areas as a way of extending their premises. Installing a gazebo shelter could provide the lifeline they need to stay open for business whilst keeping their staff and customers safe. The reconfiguration of inside areas to accommodate social distancing means capacity is lowered which is where expansion to outside areas can make all the difference.
Choosing the right gazebo for your space

Of course the first consideration has to be the amount of outside space that is available. Pop up gazebos can be as large as 4m x 8m in size but this doesn’t limit their use for larger areas, or even areas that are not uniform in shape. Gazebos can be joined together to create seamless structures giving users the versatility to use them in a configuration that makes the space work for them. If your area is hardstanding, metal weights can be used as anchors to secure the gazebos in place where pegs and guy ropes are not suitable.
How robust should the gazebo be?
There are many factors that will determine they type of gazebo that you purchase such as the frequency of use, the purpose that you wish to use it for, and the location that it is to be used in.
With the nights drawing in, and a downturn in the temperature, autumn is most definitely here and so this will also bring rain, wind and other wintery conditions. Remember that a pop up gazebo is not a permanent structure but they are robust and, used sensibly and within their limitations, a gazebo can provide shelter during the winter months. Our industrial gazebos are robust units that are in use with market traders and the military all over the world. Having been tested by the MOD as part of our MOD license, these gazebos are really put through their paces out in the field and are ideal for frequent use throughout the year.
Creating the right ambiance
These gazebos should be an extension of your premises and so you want them to be inviting to your customers as well as functional. Why not install some LED 3-way lights to ensure the inside of the gazebo is well lit after dark, and you can add halogen heaters to provide some warmth on really cold days. Carefully draped strings of fairy lights and colourful planters with winter blooms will add the finishing touches. Using sidewalls will help to give added protection from wind and rain whilst the gazebo is in use, and we can provide clamps, gutters and sidewall infil kits to create a seamless join when two gazebos are in use together.
Future proof your purchase.
Consider the function that you want the gazebo to perform and the number of people that you want to accommodate – bearing in mind social distancing. But also give some thought as to how you might use the gazebos after COVID-19. By future proofing your purchase, you will make the most of your investment at a time when cautious spending is in play.
