Follow our weather checks tips to reduce the danger of weather damage to your Gazebo
You’ve taken the time to do your research into buying your Gazebo; we urge you to be just as conscientious about checking the weather report ahead of your planned event.
Whilst our Gazebos are robust, they are Temporary Structures and not designed to withstand storm conditions or strong gusts of wind.
It’s safe to say that we enjoy a wide variety of weather conditions in the United Kingdom! Most of them are inconveniences rather than anything more drastic. However, since 2015, there have been an increase in named official storms. Fortunately, with improvements in meteorological study, storm warnings are now published at least 24-48 hours in advance. Thus giving us all plenty of time to make arrangements.
So, what can you do to reduce the danger of weather damage to your Gazebo?
Our Simple Weather Checks Tips
- Check weather reports ahead of your event.
See your local or national news weather report on the television or radio. Alternatively, use one of the many online weather reporting sites. - Ensure you have sufficient security for your Gazebo
A Heavy Duty Tie-Down Kit or extra weighting ( distributed evenly across the legs) are recommended purchases. - In breezy conditions, lower the height setting on the gazebo legs.
This makes it more difficult for wind to get under the structure and cause movement. - Check Guy ropes and pegs.
Make sure pegs haven’t moved or the ropes worked loose when under wind pressure. - Consider ground condition.
For example, sandy or water-logged ground will not hold your pegs in place as firmly as a more solid, dry surface. - Apply regular maintenance to your Gazebo
Check joints, brackets, canopy/walls material after every use. This ensures any damage is dealt with immediately and your gazebo is always in top working order. - Don’t leave the gazebo unattended if there is a risk of high wind
You want to avoid any damage occurring to your gazebo or anyone else’s property as a result of your gazebo travelling in the wind. - Carry out a full risk assessment.
- If in doubt, take it down! Gusts of wind will occur and can catch even the most prepared out.
The beauty of our Easifold/Pop Up Gazebos is in the name! They are designed to be set up very quickly and easily by two people but can still be erected with ease by an individual. (See our guide to Setting Up Your Gazebo). Therefore, they can be packed away for safety very speedily if the weather worsens suddenly. No need to worry even if you find you are on your own!
It is also worth remembering that all our Gazebo parts are replaceable. If your gazebo does sustain damage, we can supply spare parts.
