Gazebos Galore are very proud to supply the Royal Engineers Association with printed Gazebos and Feather Flags. The REA is divided into several branches according to location. We have supplied the following branches so far:
Derby.
Chesterfield.
Central Southern.
Sheffield.
North West.
Medway.
The organisation require a robust, reliable, value for money Gazebo which will stand the test of time with regular use. Most groups like to have a large shelter. For this reason, we mostly supply our 3m x 6m Commercial Gazebos. The REA also like to promote their identity because this raises awareness of their organisation. Therefore, we supply printed canopies and flags with the REA logo to maximise the groups’ visibility.
What is the REA?
The REA is the Regimental Association of the Royal Engineers. It is a registered charity. It was founded in 1912 and originally called The Royal Engineers Old Comrades Association. The current name was adopted in 1952.
The REA promotes and supports the Corps of Royal Engineers. It is a link between serving and retired members of the Corps. The motto is “service not self” and hints at the commitment of members to help others first. The group aim is to encourage and achieve “esprit de corps” – a feeling of pride and mutual loyalty. This is what they provide:
- Maintaining an awareness of Corps traditions.
- Providing financial and other assistance to serving and former members of the Corps.This extends to their spouses, widows and dependents who are in need.
- Issuing grants to Army Benevolent Fund and charities that further the objectives of the Association.
- Sappers Network – offers recruitment help and advice to ex-Engineers.
- Network of friendship and support.
The REA organise events throughout the year. For example:
- Anniversary tours of Battlefields
- Remembrance Day events.
- Military Wives Choir events.
- Group BBQs.
- Dinner/ Dances.
- Discos.
- Casino Nights.
- Weekends away.
There are over 100 branches of the REA all over the United Kingdom. Groups even exists in Germany and Jersey.
To become a member, you must have served in the Corps of Royal Engineers as a Regular or Reserve. Life Membership is £36.
